Brace yourselves, loves, because The Originals Season 1 Episode 16 is going to get extra wicked! Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has tracked down his sister’s whereabouts and he exhibits no mercy when he confronts her at the City of the Dead cemetery. And instead of running away to cower and hide in a nearby mausoleum, Rebekah (Claire Holt) braves up and faces her enraged brother head on.
“Rebekah! You are accused of betraying your own blood,” Klaus bellows in an accusing tone. He then brandishes something that makes her jaw tremble with fear — the missing white oak stake she had searched for so diligently early on in the season! And you know what this weapon means? A permanent non-daggered-in-a-box death. “He’s going to kill me,” Rebekah informs Marcel over the phone as she gives him an update on her harrowing situation. He advises her to keep as much distance between her and Klaus as she can. Luckily for Bex though, despite Klaus’ thirst for vengeance, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) risks his own life to protect her. He rushes to his sister’s side, unwavering in his mission to keep from meeting a cruel end at the hands of their hybrid brother.
“How long do you think you can defend her?” Klaus taunts, casting a vicious snarl Elijah’s way. “As long as it takes,” Elijah responds coolly, as the steely glint of determination radiates from his face. Meanwhile, the three of them are trapped in the cemetery thanks to the witches’ super powerful boundary spell, and there’s no escape in sight. And as Klaus and Rebekah trade bitter accusations, Elijah steps in to reveal a long-held secret from the family’s past that will set new events into motion.
