You know that saying that it’s easier to forgive an enemy than a friend? Well it’s even harder to do so when a family member betrays you. So what happens when his very own flesh and blood double crosses Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan)? Poor Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) learns the hard way in an all new preview clip for The Originals Season 1 Episode 16. While she paces about nervously inside a crypt at the City of the Dead cemetery, Klaus tracks down her whereabouts and tries to eliminate her for good. It’s no more Mister “Dagger-in-a-Box” Nice Guy for this hybrid! Thankfully, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is on the scene and presents a worthy argument in an attempt to dissuade Klaus from sticking a white oak stake in their baby sister’s heart.
“Niklaus, I know you and I grew up fighting you. I can’t be beaten nor can I be persuaded. You cannot get past me,” Elijah points out. An enraged Klaus misinterprets Elijah’s comment to be a challenge and assures him that he will rise victorious is this seemingly endless battle of sibling versus sibling. He then turns the tables on Elijah and says that maybe he ought to kill him off instead seeing as Elijah stabbed him with Papa Tunde’s bone knife and forced him to endure hours of pain.
Elijah, however, has a beautiful way with words, and rather than threaten Klaus, he stares him down and makes an honest observation that leaves quite an impression. “The murderous expression. The self-righteous posturing. You like father,” he states sternly.
